One Photo; One Story: Aware

Summer 1962. A moment of requited love, Perhaps the first time I recognized my father. Mom and Dad got married in a blizzard the year before. They moved from the Bronx, New York to 28 Dewitt Avenue, Belleville, New Jersey and settled into their life.

I love this photo. It’s most likely the moment I realized he would be my father, parent, teacher, friend, and sometimes foil for his harmless ball busting. The moment I placed my full trust in him to guide me and keep me safe.

You’re born knowing mom on a cellular level and that love in unconditional, storge, and necessary for survival.

Dad takes a little getting used to. Thanks Mom for capturing this moment on your trusty Kodak. Thanks Dad, your guidance has been my rock.
